SYNOPSIS

In the small town of Las Juntas, the local public school and the community come together to teach their children about the collective past in order to prepare them for a future that increasingly exists beyond the community.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Ciento un Años is a film made in collaboration with the community of Las Juntas. It was important to me to engage young people in the community with their own stories, so often there are children both in front of the camera as subjects and behind the camera as filmmakers. The title references the celebration of an anniversary, but it also asks a second, more difficult question for the community as children continue to leave: what will the next 101 years look like?
